Tongala is a small town located in the Goulburn Valley region of Victoria, Australia. It is situated approximately 18 kilometers north of the city of Echuca and 215 kilometers north of Melbourne. The town has a population of around 1,500 people and covers an area of 191.2 square kilometers.
Tongala was originally a camping site for Indigenous Australians before being settled by Europeans in the mid-19th century. The town was officially established in 1875 and quickly grew into a thriving dairy community. Today, Tongala is still known for its dairy industry and is home to several major milk processing plants.
In addition to its dairy industry, Tongala is also a popular destination for tourists. The town is surrounded by beautiful countryside, including the vast wetlands of the nearby Barmah National Park.
